We're live!
Hello world! This blog will serve as my little way of staying connected to my friends and family back home. After filling out five 120 page college ruled journals with my thoughts, feelings, and musings, I thought it might be time to start sharing some of my ideas with the world. I'll do my best to keep my readers engaged and my writing pleasant to consume but y'all will have to stay patient with me while I figure this thing out.
As those of you who've known me for a prolonged length of time surely know, I'm a pretty big fan of self-improvement. Reading, exercising, and meditating are my three favorite activities because they efficiently better the mental, physical, and spiritual aspects of my being. That's what I mean when I say that I'm an "ape in search of enlightenment." To me, enlightenment is about more than striking peace with the universe. It's about striking peace with oneself and the various dynamics we are all a part of.
Currently I'm in Virginia for school living out of a hotel. All of my basic needs are taken care of and the majority of my time is my own. This period in my life is a unique opportunity to achieve significant personal growth and I refuse to not take advantage of it. Every morning I wake up and tell myself: "Today I am fortunate to be alive. I have a precious human life. I'm not going to waste it. I'm going to use all my energies to develop myself, to expand my heart out to others, to achieve enlightenment for the benefit of all beings. I'm going to have kind thoughts towards others. I'm not going to get angry or think badly about others. I'm going to benefit others as much as I can."
In my next post I'll discuss how my morning routines help me win the day. Or just whatever else is on my mind. Bare with me, I'm still quite new to this.
Until next time,
Alexander
